Student Lounge

The student lounge contains a TV, a DVD player, DVDs, books, and board games. JUC is not responsible for the videos that students bring on their own for viewing. Students may reserve the lounge for special activities. Please be considerate of others when using the student lounge. This includes:

  • Allowing for a variety of activities
  • Leaving all lounge materials and furniture in the room
  • Keeping the TV volume low
  • Using discretion in showing personal videos
  • Cleaning up after yourself and returning furniture to its normal place when you leave the lounge

The Oasis

The Oasis is a place where students can study. Often student groups decide to meet there for group work. Students may purchase snacks (e.g., chips, ice cream, candy etc.) and drinks (e.g., iced coffee, soft drinks, juices etc.) during Office Hours. Additionally, there is a small selection of books, maps, stationery etc. to purchase. Most items sold at the Oasis are sold at a discounted price that will be lower than what one would pay at stores in Jerusalem.

The Campus Lawns and Garden

Please enjoy our beautiful lawns and garden! Here you will find five of the “seven species” native to Israel mentioned in Deuteronomy 8:8: grapes, figs, pomegranates, date palms, and olives, in addition to roses and many other flowers, plants, and trees. Our garden has a wonderful view of the Hinnom Valley, the Abu Tor and Talbiyeh neighborhoods of Jerusalem, and the watershed ridge, which was the line of the natural route used by Abraham, Jacob, and Joseph as they followed their flocks into and out of the hill country (Genesis 12:8-9; 28:10,19; 37:14). In warm weather, students like to study, read, or eat under the Trustee’s Arbor or in the shade of our Aleppo pine trees. We always appreciate your help in keeping our lawn and garden picked up and tidy.
