The Student Services Coordinator provides ongoing support to JUC students studying in the Short Term and Long Term Programs ensuring all students have a safe, enriching, and transformative experience deepening their knowledge of God and His Word through immersive study of the contexts of the biblical world and the Middle East, equipping them for academia, ministry, and global service
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist Director of Student Services
Assist Director of Student Services with support needs related to Orientations throughout the calendar year in all Academic Programs.
Work alongside M.A. students serving in the Serve-Study Program to promote a vibrant and caring community culture (e.g., organize student activities, encourage Bible studies, prayer groups, etc.).
Provide support to Short-Term Instructors (e.g., greet buses for departures, check in on needs and support accordingly, print exams, etc.)
Ensure med kits remain properly stocked and correctly checked out/in with both Long-Term and Short-Term Instructors.
Promote physical and emotional health by supporting students (e.g., confidentially referring students to meet with the JUC staff, assisting students in locating pharmacies, clinics, etc.)
Communicate with students (i.e., activities, services, Friday AM, etc.)
Assist Director of Student Services with support for Departure Meetings (e.g., lead departure meetings, reverse culture shock education, gather administrative information, schedule sheruts, etc.).
Approve Long-Term student requests for off-campus, non-course-related travel during Long-Term semesters (particularly important for undergraduate students).
In coordination with the Administrative Assistant, create and print student completion certificates.
Assist with Reception Desk and Oasis Duties
As needed, answer phones and manage gate entry point for campus.
Greet visitors and guests with hospitality.
Handle Oasis payments while on duty at reception and during special occasions for the Short-Term Program students.
Oversee Daily Operation of the JUC Library
Supervise the Library Student Fellow(s), orient new students to library services and policies, and ensure books are reshelved properly and library is clean.
JUC Online Course Setup and Support
Oversee the implementation of JUC Online Courses (i.e., meet with JUC Online Instructors to set up Microsoft Teams links, create SharePoint links for course materials and recordings for each course, upload syllabi to SharePoint, provide technical support to students as needed.)
Help JUC launch Moodle LMS by building course frameworks for faculty to use.
Other Responsibilities
Be prepared to occasionally serve in other areas of campus operation as needed and within reason (e.g., assist with dishwashing or facilities when unforeseen issues arise).
Education and Training
M.A. Degree from AIHLS/JUC Preferred
Experience and/or giftedness in Administrative Leadership
Experience and/or giftedness in facilitating Spiritual Formation
Knowledge, Skills, and Character
Strong commitment to the Christian faith and able to lead a culture of discipleship on campus.
Effective leader who can empower others to serve and participate.
Ability to organize and manage groups of people.
High level of Emotional Intelligence in relational settings and able to keep sensitive issues confidential.
Effective communicator in person and in writing.
Team player passionate about JUC’s vision to educate students about biblical backgrounds.
Able to relate to a wide array of people from diverse backgrounds.
